2016 Escondrijo
This inviting proprietary blend of 55% Grenache, 39% Syrah and 8% Petite Sirah offers stunning aromatics with black raspberry, cranberry, Indian spices, and candied violet. Seamless and energetic on the palate, offering red and dark berry flavors that expand within a frame of harmonious tannins finishing with tenacity and focus. A lovely wine to drink now and watch as it develops in the glass, and it will certainly age gracefully for another decade
2016 Syrah
Beautiful depth on the nose, with a mix of savory and fruit, including notes of bacon fat, seared meat, smoky flint-like minerality, herbes de provence and peppercorn alongside a mélange of crushed dark berries, plum skin and violet. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and chalky tannin, which will benefit from a decanting when young. Aged in 100% French oak, 30% new, barrique and large format.
