TITLE: "Spreading Our Wings"

DESCRIPTION: Inspired by Kelsey Montague’s wings murals, our fifth graders art pieces are the perfect fit for the multicultural celebration. Butterflies represent migration, which makes our country of different cultures so special. They are also symbolic of transformation and metamorphosis, an important stage we wanted to capture for their last year of elementary school as they spread their wings and transition into middle school.  Students designed wings using Zentangle patterns and expressed themselves in a photo. It is beautiful to see that even using the same patterns, each piece is unique and one of a kind.  Individual masterpiece is 8x10 on a black mat.
