Description

Our Garden Room teacher, Amy Weil, is an accomplished painter with an established career.  When she is not teaching, she is usually at her studio in Gowanus painting in Encaustic. She finds that the process involved in encaustic painting is both intuitive and direct. Using a layering and scraping process. Amy allows the colors and images to emerge in unexpected ways. She also spontaneously inscribes into the wax in ways that reflect the natural world.

Amy is interested in creating an abstract vocabulary using circles, grids and collage elements in her paintings to capture the essence of a place, a thing, a person or a memory. The circles in her paintings are metaphors for relationships and how we relate to people and our surroundings.

She has kindly donated this beautiful painting for our auction.

This painting is titled, "looking out my window," encaustic and collage on wood, and is 12" x 12".
