Susan Bogen first started working in clay 38 years ago and for the last 10 years, it has again become her life’s passion. Asian pottery has always had a strong influence on Susan’s work, as do ancient Islamic pots, admiring the way geometric design and nature interact in these works. Having studied first Japanese and then Chinese brush painting over the years, she now often uses her porcelain forms as canvases. Susan Bogen’s work is made of porcelain and stoneware, and she fires both in a gas reduction kiln to cone 10 and in a wood-fired salt kiln.
