Webinar Title for Parent Workshop: What about me? Understanding and Addressing the Needs of Siblings of Children with Autism (120 minutes)

Presenter: David Celiberti, PhD, BCBA-D

Description: The bond we share with our siblings is one of the longest, most important relationships of our lives. Unfortunately, within some families, addressing the needs of siblings does not always receive the attention it deserves and parents may struggle with concerns and questions related to their typically developing children. This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of some common challenges that may confront siblings of children with autism. This workshop will address important topics such as the possible impact of autism on siblings, parent-sibling communication, siblings’ understanding of autism, siblings’ relationships with their friends, self esteem, and balanced parenting. In recognition of the role that parents can play in empowering siblings, a variety of strategies to enhance siblings’ adaption to their unique family circumstances will be described and discussed.

Webinar Logistics:  We will utilize Google Hangout, Skype, or a videoconferencing platform that can be hosted by the agency of the winning bidder. The presentation would need to be scheduled at a mutually convenient time for the presenter and the winning bidder and occur between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020. Winning bidder is prohibited from charging admission to this training. If you are already a CEU provider, we can provide learning objectives and a time ordered agenda.
