Clovis's current work consists of large-format serigraph prints, screen prints on panel, and beaded curtain wall hangings. The process of large format screen printing is labor intensive and requires a crew of at least three people as well as specialized equipment. Collaboration and the nature of the multiple original fine art print reflect a connectedness or universal experience that I’m interested in digging into. Beading, while also labor intensive, introduces a meditative aspect into my practice. While wall-mounted, these curtains represent portals—experiences one must pass through. Source imagery primarily comes from nuclear weapons tests and garden flowers, and thematically explores apocalyptic tales, cycles of life, perseverance, and transformation. Tying into this is a visual and physical repetition of fractured images rendered into chaos but, through layering, discover order and generate new visual forms.
