DESCRIPTION: Join Charles Clarkson, PhD on a two-hour walk observing local birds and other wildlife at a conservation property on Aquidneck Island. Charles Clarkson is a professional ornithologist and currently coordinates the Rhode Island Bird Atlas. A joint-venture between the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and The University of Rhode Island, this project aims to map the distribution and abundance of all birds using the state as breeding, migratory and wintering habitat. Charles has a deep appreciation of birds and the habitats they rely on and focuses his work on aspects of wildlife conservation. This walk will be two-hours in length and will include identification of each species encountered as well as a mini-ecology course of how birds and the habitats they live in have evolved through time. Charles will bring a spotting scope and participants are encouraged to bring binoculars if they own them. The winning bidder is welcome to participate in the walk alone or bring a group of up to 10 people. Charles will work with the winner of the auction to determine the exact location, data and time of the walk.
