Description
De Tong Ling Retreat Centre is an isolated Buddhist Retreat Centre located in the lush wilderness of Kangaroo Island in South Australia. Situated on 1300 acres of rolling native vegatation with elevated sea views, it is uniquely designed to provide the most conducive conditions for solitary meditation retreats.
Accommodation is provided in the form of small, comfortable, fully-furnished, earth-built houses, each with a separate meditation room. The houses are powered by solar energy and run completely off-grid. They are located in thick bushland with plenty of distance between them to maintain privacy and quiet.
De Tong Ling welcomes retreat applicants from all Buddhist traditions and other contemplative faiths. Experience in isolated meditation practice is helpful and willingness to abide by the centre’s protocols are essential. Therefore, it is required that all retreaters read all the information on the Individual Retreat information page before booking - found here.
The centre is under the spiritual guidance of Kyabje Thubten Zopa Rinpoche and is affiliated to the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT).
