Shibori is an ancient dying technique that has been practiced for centuries by artisans in India and Japan. The process starts by dying the cloth in pomegranate, followed by stitching or wrapping thread through and around fabric. The fabric is then dipped into a dye, such as natural indigo. The stitching resists the dye, thereby creating fabulous designs on the cloth. The secrets of this craft have been passed down through the generations and to create an outstanding design takes expertise in stitching as well as the dying process.
Mahakala Fine Arts works with the artisans to design styles and match them with brilliant colors. We invite you to visit MahakalaFineArts.com where you can choose whichever design that you like. After a successful bid, please let us know which style you would like.
