Gampo Abbey is a Western Buddhist monastery in the Shambhala tradition. Founded by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1984, it is a lineage institution of Shambhala and a corporate division of the Vajradhatu Buddhist Church of Canada. Pema Chodron is the monastery's principal teacher and Thrangu Rinpoche, its abbot.

As seen in the photo (above), Gampo Abbey is the site of an annual Lobster Release event, the release of caught lobsters back in to the water.
