Description

Handmade by Diane De Baun this incense burner is imprinted with the Buddhist Shrivatsa or endless knot motif and glazed with teal and copper crackle in a raku firing.

The endless knot or lucky diagram is common to many ancient cultures and has various meanings. In China it is associated with longevity, love, harmony and continuity. It is also known as the glorious knot or eternal knot in Buddhism, representing the Buddha’s mind and teachings, his eternal compassion and wisdom, and, specifically, the Buddha’s "twelve links of dependent origination" underlying the reality of the cycle of existence from his teachings. It is one of the eight auspiscious symbols.

De Baun Fine Ceramics: raku pottery, shrines, incense burners, and more.
