This piece captures the image of the mythical personifiation of nature in a delightfully whimsical metal sculpture.  Indonesian artisans hand from and cut individual pieces of reclaimed metal into realistic leaf-like shapes.  Each "leaf" is then handwelded in layers to form the Green Man's face from the leaves.  The entire piece is treated with a heatherproof patina-like finish, keeping the "green" in this green man. 

The green man character's origins go back centuries and examples of similar characters can be found in many cultures.  This particular example illustrates the artist's respect for nature through its artful design and enduring craftmanship.
