Dadonov was selected by the Panthers in the third round of the 2007 NHL Draft. He came to North America for the 2009-10 season, made his NHL debut April 6, 2010, against the Ottawa Senators. The Russia-born forward had 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in three stints with the Panthers from 2009-10 through 2011-12. After being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 18, 2012, and finishing the season in the American Hockey League, Dadonov opted to return to Russia and play in the Kontinental Hockey League, spending two seasons with Donbass and three with SKA Saint Petersburg. Dadonov became a free agent after the 2016-17 season and signed a three-year contract with the Panthers on July 1, 2017. Dadonov had a career year in 2018-19. In 82 games, he had 70 points (28 goals, 42 assists), finishing tied for third on the Panthers in scoring.
