Description

Jeff Runquist Wines, winner of California Winery of the Year at the 2019 California State Fair, presents a “vertical” collection of their famous Cooper Vineyard Barbera. This collection consists of five consecutive vintages, 2012-2016, of this award-winning wine. The five bottles are packaged in a wooden gift box.

The five vintages can be enjoyed individually, of course, but would be the most interesting, if opened all at once, with a group of friends, so the subtle differences among the vintages can be appreciated. This is a rare and wonderful collection, because the five individual vintages of Jeff Runquist Wines Cooper Vineyard Barbera are sold out and no longer available at the winery, aside from what is packaged in these “vertical” boxes.

This is a Live Event Item.

Special Instructions

Jeff Runquist has been a winemaker for over 40 years, in Amador County, Napa, San Jose and Ripon, returning to Plymouth (Shenandoah Valley, Amador County) to open his own winery and tasting room in 2008. Jeff’s winemaking style produces wines that are fruit forward, with soft tannins. It’s a style that has won him national acclaim.

Dick Cooper, owner of Cooper Vineyards and Winery, is credited with bringing the Barbera grape to popularity in Amador County. In the late 1970’s Cooper was thinking of planting a vineyard and asked Sacramento wine merchant, Darrell Corti for advice on what varietals to plant. Mr. Corti suggested Dolcetto and Barbera. At the time, Cooper was unable to find any Dolcetto cuttings, but obtained cuttings of Barbera from another local vineyard. The vines did well and Barbera wine gained in popularity. In addition to producing his own terrific Barbera, Mr. Cooper provides his prized grapes to several of the local wineries, including Jeff Runquist Wines. Jeff reserves a particular block of Cooper’s Barbera vineyard to make his renowned Cooper Vineyard Barbera.
