Wood Wonders/J. P Ross Fly Rod Company

This treasure came from an estate sale, and comes to us third hand because, as folks say so often, “I couldn’t pass it up, and maybe you all can use it.”

The wood case is bird’s eye maple, 6 sided, closed by a 6-sided plug held by a leather strap. The velveteen rod sock holds a hand-made graphite rod labeled “9’4WT 4pc 43t”

It’s a beautiful dark green rod with a creamy cork grip, up-locking reel seat, and single-foot guides with lovely green wrapping. Other markings on the rod read “J. P. Ross Fly Rod Company” and “Wood Wonders ‘05” 

It’s hard to put a price on something like this, but we’ll estimate the package at $225.
