Description

Fiber

12" x 28" x 1.5"

Gwyn Marathas is a third generation artist trained in fine arts from childhood. In addition, a passion for color and texture led her to explore the medium of fiber and textile art. She holds a BFA from University of MA-Dartmouth and is a textile design and color professional. Recent exhibits include the AAM and the Easton Legacy festival. Her work is inspired by nature, elements of fantasy and modern themes.

Color in Weave is part of a series created by the artist during the summer of 2019 whilst she was one of many artists-in-residence at Buck's Rock Performing & Creative Arts Camp in CT. She was feeling inspired by the knowledge that, during her time there, our planet was going through a full Mercury Retrograde cycle-with the implications that it may have brought to collective human experience. This piece is an exploration of viewable color language as it translates into its interlacement form.
