Sarreguemines faience was produced from 1860-1919. Sarreguemines is a French town whose name was used as part of a mark for a factory that made ceramics. Faience is a type of earthenware of high quality, made to look like Chinese porcelain with its opaque white glaze. The Royal Sphinx factory, established by Petrus Regout (1834), started as a glass factory and later began to produce fine pottery.

French floral, gilded, c.1889 -- 1918. 1890 luncheon plate by Petrus Regout & Company of Maastricht, Netherlands in their Abbey pattern. Plate features a Dutch abbey, with smaller portraits of the abbey on the rim. Sphynx mark on back.

This item can be shipped or picked up at the Attleboro Arts Museum from November 5-9, 2019. The Museum is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10am-5pm. The winning bidder is responsible for all shipping and handling costs. The artist retains all reproduction and copyrights.
