Melissa Riley, a 1975 graduate of Emmanuel College with a BA in art, is a landscape painter who characterizes her work as explorations of shape, texture and color in paint. Her pieces have been shown at the AAM, the True Grit Gallery, the Preservation Framer, Hunakai Studios and most recently in Washington DC.
In Morning Haze the artist was exploring abstract textures in the sky. Working with a palette knife, colors are put on top of each other and then scraped off creating sky. This piece is full of interesting textures and shapes.
