Kerry St.Pierre is a graduate of the Mass College of Art & Design where she received training in sculpture, painting and drawing. Immersed in art since she was a child, it was her mother's soft sculpture dolls and her love of Jim Henson's creatures that inspired her current creations. Although at first self-taught in the art of polymer and paper clay sculptures she has recently honed her skills by studying under famous artists, such as Wendy & Toby Froud and Jack Johnston. Kerry's one-of-a-kind hand sculpted creations allow her to use her imagination to its fullest.
Witch Hazel started out as a sculpting demonstration and soon took on a life of her own. Her head and bust are made from paper clay, painted with acrylics and then dressed in recycled leather, fabric and feathers. Witch Hazel is a cottage witch, also known as a "Scandinavian" kitchen witch, a homemade doll resembling a stereotypical witch or crone displayed year round in residential kitchens as a good luck charm and to ward off bad spirits.
