Joell O'Malley holds a BA from UMass Amherst, and an Associates degree in nursing, but her real love is art. At an early age she began drawing, and recalls trips to the beaches of Cape Cod with her grandmother to collect shells and other ocean creatures for art. She considers herself an "Up-cycle Artist." Her art has been featured on Cape Cod in the HYART Shanties in Hyannis, a few Cape Cod gift shops and the AAM.

Sirene Cheveux Roux (Red Hair Mermaid) was inspired by green rocks the artist found at Sandy Neck Beach in Sandwich, MA. She has incorporated the sand and stones she found on that beach trip, and a crab she found in Barnstable Harbor the following day. She chose the name in memory of her late grandmother who was French Canadian and her influence in art.
