Description

Pocket Opera has donated 2 tickets to any one performance of their 2020 season.  Check pocketopera.org for operas and dates.  Performances are held in San Francisco at the Legion of Honor, in Berkeley at the Hillside Club, and in Palo Alto at the Oshman Family JCC.

Pocket Opera, the Bay Area’s premiere chamber opera company, has offered accessible, “audience friendly” performances for over 40 years. Pocket Opera’s talented singers and Pocket Philharmonic – 5-10 players – perform lively, professional, entertaining productions. Performances are fully staged and include concert ensembles, and are narrated in English versions by Donald Pippin, the company’s founder and Artistic Director Emeritus. “Each opera is translated from its original language into lyrical, concise English – carefully arranged to create the greatest possible fidelity to the composer’s intent. Recitatives are often replaced with wry, witty narrations — ensuring that audiences are always in on characters’ schemes and intrigues.

The audience experiences full operatic works on an intimate, intelligible scale unique to Pocket Opera.
