Description

In 1830, 400 acres of land were awarded to Judge Charles Couzens. The gift from the King of England on his retirement from the Crown included mountains, valley views, a bounty of wildlife, and the jewel, Gould's Brook River. The serene surroundings and the power of the river attracted many distinguished owners over the years. In the early 1900s thrifty merchants from as far away as Maine used the power of the river to generate power for a woolen mill that made clothes, blankets, and quilts. As World War 1 approached, the Riverside Woolen Mill was formed and operated by the Royal Stores Ltd. Of St.John's and was best known for making the Newfoundland Regiment Uniforms. The woolen business came to an end in 1960.

This blanket measures approximately 44" x 45".
