About Veggani:
VEGGANI is a vegan handbag brand that believes in the protection of people, animals and the planet.
Founder and Designer Laura de Waal's goal in starting Veggani was to create stylish, functional, quality handbags that do not compromise their ethics but promote them. All of their handbags reflect their commitment to being socially responsible, environmentally conscious and animal friendly. One of the key elements of VEGGANI's mission is to not only help impoverished communities, but to bring awareness to them. They use high quality materials that are often recycled and/or repurposed. When possible, they work with and support smaller factories and artisan workshops. These efforts are never easy and require much more attention, research and heart than creating a product without a conscious.
Animal Friendly - Faux Leathers & Furs
Only animal-free materials are used to create their handbags. The best vegan leathers and faux furs are sourced and used in production. When possible, they use PU (Polyurethane) over PVC (Polyvinylchloride) as it is less harmful for the environment than PVC. They are a PETA Approved company.
Recycled Linings
Many of their linings are created using Repreve & Recyctex. These are recycled fibers that contain recycled materials including post-industrial waste, used plastic bottles and recycled fish nets. Both are certified sustainable and conserve resources because they offset the need to use newly refined crude oil. Compared to making virgin synthetic fibers, these materials use less energy and water, and produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions. Using Repreve & Recyctex for their lining supports their commitment at Veggani to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
Recycled & Repurposed Hardware
Some of the metal hardware on their handbags was created by artisans in a remote village in the Xieng Khouang Province in Northern Laos. The artisans create the hardware using recycled aluminum from Vietnam war era bombs. Laos is the most bombed country, per capita, in the world. By working with these artisans, they are helping clear artisans' farmlands and provide financial sustainability to artisans' families and communities.
By purchasing one of these bags, you will help clean up some of Laos' littered farmland and support it's local artisans.
