French artists Matisse and Redouté shared a love of color and a rich respect for the tradition of still-life painting. One gave us lush compositions packed with florals and another dense patterns and flattened perspectives. Ms. Jessup's 1st grade class imagined what might happen if these two artists created work together. Students constructed hand-painted paper flowers in a Matisse like style and they were arranged in a Redouté like fashion. Resulting in a contemporary take on a timeless tradition.
