Description

This original painting measures 20" X 24" and is displayed in a custom made, ready to hang frame.

This is a view from a trail out in Simi Valley where I work.  I went on a hike one fall evening when stormy clouds were breaking up and golden sunshine was very dramatically lighting the large rock formations on the hillside.

If you are local to LA, items will be available for pick-up on Saturday, October 26th. If shipping is required, there will be an additional fee.

About the artist: My name is Tom Chambers.  I grew up in L.A. and I love the unique landscapes of our region.  I am inspired by finding moments of surprising beauty in these everyday landscapes.  I have come to cherish the many easily accessible open spaces that give respite to the energy and demands of our city.  Most of my paintings are done on location (or based on studies done on location) in these open spaces; many of which are within 15 minutes of my home or work.  Painting has been a way for me to more deeply enjoy the blessing of these places and see them more fully.  I am often struck by seeing a familiar landscape transformed by changes in light and season.  I want my paintings to freeze these moments when the familiar becomes profoundly new.  It is in these moments when my deep connection to these landscapes meets a deep longing for a landscape I have not yet seen.  I paint in hopes of being able to in some way communicate and share these moments with others.  I hope they are a blessing to you!
