The winning bidder will have the opportunity to choose a specific date for the flag to be flown weather-permitting, including weekends and all holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. The flag will come with a certificate of authenticity showing the day it was flown and the occasion for which it was flown. The Capitol Flag Program, which began in 1937, allows a Member of Congress to request a flag be flown over the Capitol on behalf of a constituent.
