Half-Day Tour of Jerusalem's First Modern Neighborhoods
Item Number: 177
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Have you ever wondered why the present-day city of Jerusalem looks like it does? Changes to the Jerusalem landscape outside the walls of the Old City in the 30-year period from 1850 to 1880 are largely responsible for the later developments and processes in the rise of the new city.
Andrea Hendler, licensed tour guide and educator, offers a half-day walking tour of the first Jewish neighborhoods outside of the walls of Jerusalem's Old City. The tour will explore the first Jewish neighborhoods of Jerusalem established outside of the Old City walls (such as Mishkenot Sha'ananim, Machane Yisrael and Nachalat Shiva) and some of the colorful characters who resided in them.
Andrea has been a Jewish educator for over 20 years and brings a new love of modern Israeli history to her educational portfolio. This is a wonderful tour for those who have been to Israel before and would like to learn more about off-the-beaten-path neighborhoods.
