Asha in Wonderland by Belinda Stewart

Item Number: 369
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Asha lived most of her life as a riding elephant at the Amer Fort, in Jaipur. After suffering an injury that permanently affected her gait, she was illegally trafficked to Madhya Pradesh where she lived the next phase of abuse: being used as a begging elephant. When timid Asha arrived at Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Centre in 2015, she was in dire need of medical attention and the love and care that she was devoid of her whole life. Her leg will never heal, but she gets regular sessions of laser therapy, and she is given medicated massages that give her relief.

"I got hooked on Wildlife SOS with the first rescue attempt of sweet Mohan. Since being retired, it has been pure joy seeing a picture posted at various elephant and bear sanctuaries and setting it aside to become inspiration for my watercolors. All work is on professional Arches watercolor paper."
