At the grand age of 70 years, Suzy is our oldest female elephant at the Elephant Conservation and Care Centre, who was rescued as a circus elephant, in February 2015. Having spent the majority of her life performing unnatural tricks, Suzy suffers from severe osteoarthritis and to add to her pain, is also completely blind in both her eyes. Suzy also is at loss of molars, which clearly implies that her life at the circus was that of severe neglect and one of no proper care and attention. Suzy is an extremely gentle elephant, and enjoys a specially curated diet to herself, to tend to her geriatric needs - her fruits are mashed into smoothies for her easy consumption, and her green fodder is finely chopped so that she can easily munch on! She receives medicated foot bath of Epsom salt and turmeric for her delicate and torn foot pads, as well as additional immunity boosters to maintain internal strength.
