Description

International movies can expand our world to the cultural universals we share and to the ways in which we are different. Up to 45 Congressional School students in 5th and/or 6th grade are invited to join Mrs. Yassine and Mrs. Rovinsky on Friday afternoon after school to watch and discuss the movie, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.


Based on a true story, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind follows William Kamkwamba, a 13 year old boy from a Malawi village, who builds a wind turbine to rescue his friends and neighbors from the famine effecting the community.

Mrs. Yassine and Mrs. Rovinsky will provide drinks, dinner, and dessert.


Cost:  $75 per student.  Space for each student purchased separately.


Students attending the movie and dinner will have the option of staying to play games and go directly to the Middle School hangout in October 2020.

Winning bidders may pick up their items at a yet-to-be-determined future date at the Advancement Office at Congressional School, 3229 Sleepy Hollow Road, Falls Church, VA. Notification of pick-up availability will be emailed to the winning bidders once it is determined. We anticipate this will be early June based on current guidance from the State of Virginia. Please note that emails can only be sent to the winning bidder’s registered email address.
