Tohmas's career as a colorist began by accident after leaving The School of Visual Arts. A life long painter, he immediately saw the creativity possibilities in haircolor and sought out one of the most well regarded educators in the industry. After apprenticing with Beth Minardi at her nationally recognized Minardi Salon, he quickly became one of the salon's top haircolor specialists for over a decade. During that time, in addition to building up a diverse and very special clientele, he travelled extensively , teaching and coloring hair for dozens of industry shows and color brands such as Redken, Wella and Joico. Tohmas's work has been featured for his expertise in several trade and national magazines such as Modern Salon, Better Homes & Garden and Process. His experience with extensive independent product testing, has rendered him a unique and in-depth understanding of both the nature of hair response and the actual capabilities of hair color. He is an expert with both subtle and bolder statements in all red, brunette and blonde shades, as well as color correction.
