Description

Tim Keating will share the mental, physical, spiritual and environmental benefits of mindfully foraging for and eating local, wild plants. As you explore Prospect Park together, Tim will reveal a wide variety of edible plants and uncover the many benefits of incorporating wild greens into one's diet. Let’s learn to appreciate our most-basic connection with the native denizens of our area. Don’t just eat plants… befriend them!

Tim has been foraging and eating wild edibles for more than forty years and has eaten foraged food from California to Thailand. He’s led dozens of walks in New York City and was the first to promote public shared dinners prepared using foraged food. Tim’s “Foraging 101” has always been different — with the main focus being to learn and trust enough in the most-common wild edibles, so that beginners will actually eat them, not just take more notes.
This is a two-hour walk and can be with just you, or you can invite friends and family, whichever you prefer (although groups of no more than twelve are preferable).

The agreed-to date should ideally be between May 1 – June 30, but this can still be done into early September. Some really nice edibles come out mid-April into early May, but some are only available in the Summer.
