Description

Pueo (Hawaiian for Owl)

In Hawaiian tradition, the Pueo, the native owl, is not just an animal; it's an aumakua, or spirit protector descended from the second son of the goddess Hina. Pueo lives between heaven and earth. They are ancestors who predate humans and watch over them.

Volcano artist Ira Ono's Pueo sculptures are lovingly handmade with a special firing technique that gives them an ancient patina and glow. He embeds a secret message within each unique sculpture to inbue it with its own gift of power.
