Description

PAPALE LAU HALA PIKO‘OLE - OPEN CROWN LAU HALA HAT

This papale piko'ole is a style of hat that has recently become very popular in Hawai‘i. Wear it anywhere--to do your yard work, gardening, to go golfing, to walk your dog, to go to the beach or shopping.

Dimensions:
The size of this papale/hat is small/medium, or 6-3/4 (US) / 6-7/8 (UK). It is 11 inches (27.94 cm) wide and 12 inches (30.48 cm) in length.

The inner circumference of the crown measures 21-1/2 inches (55 cm), the height of the crown is 1-1/2 inches high (3.81 cm) and is lined with a strip of 100% cotton fabric.

The width of the brim measures 2-1/2 inches (6.35 cm) from the base of the crown to the edge. A woven lau hala band, approx. 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) wide, of a darker contrasting lau hala color, embellishes the base of the crown.

This papale lau hala piko‘ole was hand-woven in the traditional Hawaiian way with dried leaves of the pandanus tree that was gathered at Waimakua, in Haena on the north shore of Kauai, near Limahuli Garden and Preserve.
