This beautiful property is run by Will Lydgate, a personable and passionate man with a deep love for the island and the food that it produces. This chocolate farm tour will take you around part of the 46-acre farm to show you how chocolate is made — from cacao bean to chocolate bar. Your guide will tell you more than you ever realized you wanted to know about how chocolate is made.

Lydgate Farms is run by our fifth generation Kauai family. They grow high-quality cacao to make the finest craft chocolate. They also grow award-winning vanilla and honey. The farm sits above the town of Kapaa, between Sleeping Giant and Mt. Waialeale. Lydgate Farms is in an ahupua’a (land division) named Olohena, known for its rolling hills and the numerous springs and rivers that make this valley fertile for growing. Often called the Garden Island, Kauai is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands and, as a result, has the most developed soils and fertile growing conditions. In addition to their specialty crops, you’ll find a wide variety of botanicals around our farm that influence the taste of our honey and chocolate.
