Fly high for one hour in this 1941 biplane with local pilot and South Central College alum David L. Bates. Restored over a period of 15 years, the plane is owned by his father, David J. Bates, and was the 2001 Antique Airplane Association Grand Champion. Originally designed as a U.S. Navy fighter trainer, the plane is acrobat-certified. Helmet and goggles are provided - you'll need them because you'll be riding in an open cockpit and flying between 100-200 mph. To get a feeling for what it will be like, watch the Youtube video David L. made. Search for: 450 Stearman Cockpit 2011. Flexible date/time from late summer through fall, to be arranged with the Bates'. Plan two hours for this one hour ride so you can take it all in.

Special Instructions
Winning bidder will receive a certificate for the airplane ride and contact information to make arrangements with the donor. Certificate must be picked up from the Faribault Campus or arrangements made by February 19, 2020. Ride must be taken in late summer or early fall of 2020 from the Faribault Airport in Faribault, Minnesota.
