Description
Offering a one hour introductory art lesson Fran Beallor teaches art to all ages, but her specialty is portfolio and audition prep: tutoring middle schoolers for the New York City art high school auditions, and helping high schoolers prepare portfolios for college entry nationwide. Description of Art High School Audition Prep and Portfolio Lessons: Students work on different genres - still life, self portraits, portraits, city scenes, abstractions, landscapes, etc. We investigate art themes such as: volume and form, light and dark, cool and warm colors, architecture, art historical periods and styles, etc. I also have them explore different media starting with black & white drawing in pencil, then moving on to color with colored pencil, oil pastels, and painting in watercolor or acrylics. I help my students practice the art skills they need for the drawings they will do during the HS audition, including still lifes, and figure drawings from life and from memory. As we practice we build their portfolio, piece by piece. Biography Fran Beallor paints still lifes that are not so still, and creates portraits, murals, traditional oils and watercolors with a contemporary twist.
Lessons conveniently located on the Upper West Side
