Beginner Belay Lesson

The belay lesson teaches you to manage the ropes for the climber on our taller walls (called belaying). A beginner belay lesson includes gear rental (shoes and harness) and a one day pass.  At the end of class, students will receive a temporary belay card so they can continue to climb and belay for the rest of the day! To earn a permanent belay card, each person will need to come back on a separate day and take our belay test (no reservation necessary--however during busy hours, there may be a wait to take the test).

Reservations are strongly recommended as our classes do fill up. We only allow 4 students per class so the instructor can devote personal attention to each student.

Parents Manage the Ropes

Learn to manage the ropes for your child in our Parent and Child Belay Lesson.  Classes last one hour and include a harness for each of you and a day pass for your child to climb.  You must be 14 years old to belay. The cost is $28 for 1 parent and 1 child and $16 for each additional child.

Weekend option: On Saturdays and Sundays a Planet Granite instructor will get your child climbing while you learn to manage the ropes. If there are children under the age of 18, please call ahead of time regarding waiver information and class availability.
