Fang Peoples, Gabon: early -mid 20th century The stylistic features are typical of the Fang are all here; very broad, quarter-spherical forehead, doucle arched over eyes sockets, heart-shaped face, projecting mouth, headdress with a with a crest semi-circular scarring on the brow and cheeks, exaggerated to inspire fear. White kaolin is the color of the spirit. Created as an instrument of terror, the mask still suggest the tripartitie power of healer, man and heavenly spirit.
