My inspiration for this quilt was based on a labyrinth walk. Seeking solace, I walked the labyrinth in search of inspiration. Like so many people, I have been feeling apprehensive in these uncertain times. This overwhelming feeling of societal, ecological, political and cultural destruction feels imminent. But, somewhere from deep within my soul came the nudge to create something colorful. I could see ribbons of color swirling as I walked the labyrinth and was deeply inspired to take up quilting again. I have quilted in the past and had previously purchased a jelly roll of Aborigine Dreamtime fabric from a quilt shop in Shasta, California which is nestled at the base of that majestic mountain. This quilt is evocative of hope infused with the mystical energy of Shasta and creative energy of the Dreamtime – out of destruction comes creation.
