From Heather Parker in our Science Department: Zoology has chosen a project this semester to start an observation hive INSIDE the classroom (donated last year at the Gala!).  It will be connected to a hive outside as well. We have learned all about bee communication and behavior and will be able to view an active hive in class.  Students researched types of hives, what flowers to plant, bee care, and about how honey bee populations are in decline. We are working with the Marin Beekeepers to possibly catch our own swarm with their help.  To keep everyone safe, we need these items so that we can learn how to keep and handle bees and possibly harvest honey and beeswax in the future!
