Peter Yaukey is a full professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans, where he has been on the faculty since fall of 2016. He retired from the University of New Orleans in 2015 at age 54, after being on the geography faculty there since 1991. He has taught a variety of courses, focused mainly on environmental topics, weather and climate, wildlife ecology, and applied statistics. Yaukey's research primarily focuses on hurricane climatology and on urban ecology, especially birds. In addition to publishing in technical journals, he has consulted and done contract work in both these fields. His business is Gulf South Enfironmental Investigations.
