Elise Cohn, the "Reading Whisperer" is a highly sought-after learning specialist, essay-writing coach and ISEE test prep tutor. She has helped her students gain acceptance to schools such as Horace Mann, Dalton, Trinity, Riverdale Country School and Dwight-Englewood, and has also helped children master levels of literacy and mathematics they never thought was possible. And, while doing so, she has also helped them become happy and confident learners.

Elise's approach is, first and foremost, child-centered. She determines the learning style of each of her students and then tailors her teaching to best support them as she coaches them to work hard and reach for their best. As a learning specialist, Elise layers multiple highly-respected and science-based disciplines into her teaching - including the Lindamood-Bell sensory-cognitive approach and the Orton-Gillingham instructional methodology. She also makes learning (even math!) fun.

In keeping with her commitment to active participation in childhood education, Elise has served on the boards of the Westside Montessori School, The Special Music School at the Kaufman Music Center, LaGuardia High School for Music and Art & the Performing Arts, the NYCiSchool, and the Camp Vega Foundation.
