Artist Bio:

A recently retired veterinarian, Dawn Koetting is enjoying being able to focus more time on her art and travel. Plein air painting trips are a unique way to get to know an area in an exceptionally intimate way and have become a passion of the artist. Acadiana and the southeast Bayou Region of Louisiana have been home to Koetting her entire life, and it brings her great joy to showcase the unique beauty of the area landscapes with her art. She is currently working on a series of plein air studies of the majestic oaks of Bayou Lafourche.

Koetting favors working in pastel, although she also enjoys utilizing watercolor for underpaintings and works in oils. Being a signature member of the Degas Pastel Society has afforded her the opportunity to study with many nationally renowned pastel artists. Koetting is also a signature member of the Pastel Society of America where she has had a plein air piece accepted into their “Enduring Brilliance” show held in Manhattan at the National Arts Club this September. The artist’s work has been accepted into the International Association of Pastel Societies shows and exhibited at the Butler Museum of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio and the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum in Lafayette, Louisiana.
