Description

This John Pitman Weber collage (circa 1980) was originally done in a small edition for display in the NYC subway as part of a project by a New York based artists' group against the American aggression/war in Central America. It is one of only two surviving copies from the edition. The image of the two predatory birds fighting, with distant oil wells in the background is from one of Weber’s own murals — painted in 1977 at a carwash on Fullerton just east of the expressway (the mural has since been destroyed). The image on the right is from a poster by a Southeast Asian artist, which Weber found in the Japanese-published progressive anti-war journal AMPO (he used it without permission). Unframed and measures 28" x 11"
