The idea for the Four Hour Day was conceived around 2010 by Gabe Sinclair, as a spot for the hands-on practice of creative arts.  The guiding thought was that music should be a thing we all do, rather than simply witness, and that we should break down the barriers between audience and performer.  

The shop is named for a utopian novel that Gabe wrote, detailing a future where we work cooperatively & collectively and everyone need only work four hours a day.
