Description

Jake (Jacqueline) Freeman creates each piece of wearable art with intention and thought. She chose to include these white beaded earrings because they remind her of simplicity and renewal (fresh and traditional colours).

When asked why she wanted to be a part of this fundraiser she said "I am very fortunate. I have not been affected by job loss or covid and I truly believe in giving back.  We are all a part of a community, and we need to be able to support the great work of the Mission as well as to let those who are not as fortunate that they are not forgotten."

Jake (Jacqueline) Freeman of ManitobaMade creates wearable art pieces for all to enjoy. Jacqueline is Michif from the homeland of the Métis Nation and Treaty 1 Territory. Her ancestors include the Fleury, Delorme, and Grant lines from Assiniboia.

Holding a Bachelor of Science degree form the University of Manitoba, Jake appreciates the inspiration of each piece and believes that its new owner has a connection to it as well.

Working with materials like beads, leather, birch bark, quills, feathers, and caribou hair – her pieces are evolving as she learns new skills, networks with other artists, and reconnects with her history,  ancestry, and the land.

Jake works full time and creates as a passion.  Beginning around 2010 with small pointillism pieces that she used to do with her late mother, her art leaned to creating wearable jewelry pieces that have been sent to New Zealand, Korea, UK, and across Turtle Island.
