Artist Delores Toews Racette was born in Altona, MB, and moved to Winnipeg at 5. She is mother of 3 and proud grandmother of 3 grandchildren, working at a neighbouring non-profit serving the same community as Lighthouse.

"Life has not always been easy but I have been very blessed to see the hand of God in my life and the lives of my family. God has never left us in our misery but taken all the years of heartache and brought us to a place of restoration that continues to this day. I have experienced years where I essentially burned out my life. In the middle of all of it I also experienced God make a beautiful thing of the ashes of my life 'cause that is all I had to offer"

It is for this reason that she is humbled and delighted to donate her artwork to the Lighthouse Mission fundraiser.

"As a child my parents were heavily involved with the Lighthouse Mission through the church we attended, 'Gospel Mennonite Church', on Nassau. Whenever my parents would be in charge of the service they would take me along as I loved to sing and would accompany my mother who played the guitar."

These were her very first introductions to those experiencing homelessness and hardship at that level. It is here she says she "began to see and feel at that young age of 7 the pain in their eyes and the beauty in their souls, and that everyone is completely loved by God no matter, without judgements of any kind."
