Description

Painted in acryic, collage and gold leaf the painting is 25”X37” on canvas and is framed in white.

It Always Comes in Threes was painted after losing several (three of course) people in her life, most notably her nephew who died from an overdose at the age of 20. Birds play a significant role in my life, I believe the to be messengers, able to travel between worlds.

Kathleen Shellrude was born in Winnipeg in 1976 and graduated from the U of W in 2005, after which she taught on multiple continents and worked with street-involved women.  Shellrude taught herself art during a lengthy hospitalization in 2015 during which she was not sure she would walk again and since has then been prolific; painting mixed media, whimsical, and dreamlike landscapes and creatures.
