John Cariani is an accomplished playwright and Tony-nominated actor who appeared in Portland Stage’s 2020 sold-out run of his beautiful and timeless play, Almost, Maine. Having grown up in Presque Isle, ME, John returned to Maine fifteen years after its premiere for what became Portland Stage’s highest grossing production in its 46 season history.

Following Almost, Maine, he began rehearsals for Roundabout Theatre Company’s eventual Broadway production of Caroline, or Change, which will open in New York as soon as Broadway theaters are permitted to welcome audiences back.
